This conference considers the survival of national bargaining to be essential for staff in the HE sector, and in particular for fixed term and hourly paid staff and other vulnerable staff who are in a weak bargaining position.
However, we also note the existence of a number of staff who should be on grade 6/Academic 1 and above but are not. These staff include many hourly paid staff who have not been assimilated to the single pay spine.
This conference asks UCU to ensure that national bargaining arrangements do not exclude such staff from being represented by UCU including over pay.
