- Motion text
This Congress notes the recent announcement by Lancaster University of a review of its Department Continuing Education (DCE) , which is likely to lead to substantial reduction of its Open Studies programme and significant compulsory redundancies. As a result 1500 part time students are likely to lose the opportunity of accessing affordable high quality university level education in the North West of England.
This Congress believes this decision ignores the importance of Adult Education to the students and the community and goes against the spirit of the Leitch Report.
This Congress resolves to support colleagues at Lancaster University in their fight to protect DCE, its staff and the courses they provide.
