- Motion text
Congress welcomes successes in achieving open-ended and pro rata contracts for FTHP members. Since problems remain for large numbers of FTHP staff in FE and HE, Congress instructs NEC to launch a Fixed-Term and Hourly Paid Campaign to:
oppose compulsory redundancy for all members; support fights for job security, fair pay and better working conditions for FTHP; oppose detrimental conditions in transfers to permanency; engage with employers, funders and the government, e. g. regarding ESOL, ELQ, and job security for researchers through good budgeting and (where necessary) good redeployment practices
create strong links between FTHP and other members; publicise pay and conditions, negotiations and victories; encourage FTHP to contribute to UCU publications
promote the recruitment and organisation of FTHP, a national conference on FTHP issues, days of action and local events
call for the inclusion of FTHP staff in national negotiations, agreements, pay awards and incremental progression
