- Motion text
Congress recognises the industrial and political challenges facing UCU, and endorses, in response, the National Organising Plan (NOP; UCU/102). Our key tasks are to defend and improve members' pay and conditions, and to promote UCU's vision of education as a critical democratic resource.
Congress agrees to prioritise membership growth amongst the most vulnerable, and campaign against casualisation as a central bargaining objective.
The NOP will support implementation of our industrial and political priorities through support for:
1 branches that enforce national agreements, provide effective representation, and act as the local voice of our professions;
2. regional committees that support branches, devise and co-ordinate local strategies, disseminate best practice; organise and co-ordinate training and recruitment with national and regional offices, and organise solidarity;
3. administrative resources that prioritise growth in the organising capacity of our branches and regions.
Congress instructs the NEC to review progress against the Plan's recommendations, and report back to Congress.
