- Motion text
Courage Idiabonya is a second year Biochemistry student at Newcastle University. He is currently seeking asylum as a result of death threats arising from his time spent as a political activist at the University of Calabar in Nigeria.
For three years, a campaign has been waged to prevent Courage's deportation. Thousands of Newcastle University students and staff have signed petitions in Courage's defence. Police and immigration officials have seized and detained him twice, on one occasion from the University.
Congress pledges full support to Courage so that he is able to complete his studies without further harassment.
