Congress welcomes the continuing and increasing level of cooperation between UCU and the National Union of Teachers at national level, particularly though not exclusively in the context of the 'our colleges, our communities' campaign.
Congress calls on the NEC to:
1. encourage further cooperation with NUT at regional and local level.
2. consider ways of productively increasing further the degree of cooperation between the two unions at national level.
3. investigate with the NUT the longer term possibility of merger, the potential benefits and problems that may arise, and report back to Congress 2009.
