Conference congratulates FE members in England for making the one day strike on 24t h a magnificent start to the campaign for a decant pay rise for 2008/9.
Joint action with the NUT PCS proved very successful in mobilising support from the membership in support of our claim and in raising the wider case of public sector pay.
Conference endorses our negotiators' rejection of the 2. 5% from employers and fully supports the action adopted by the FEC on 16th May namely:
– The joint FE union day of protest ( 4th June) on the eve of next negotiations
– A London wide strike on9th June with mass attendance at the TUC Public services public services parliamentary lobby
– Branches outside London to send delegations to the lobby and organise other lunchtime demonstrations
– Two days on national strike action in September if possible alongside other FE unions.
