UCU: Branch and regional organisation

Motion

Motion text: This conference notes the growing threat of privatisation and the undermining of national and local bargaining in the FE sector.
Conference believes that as part of a campaign to protect pay, jobs and conditions of members we must:
i) Make organising a priority in everything UCU does and ensure that regional organisers, where deployed, are fully integrated as part of the regional office team under the direction of the Regional Official. '.
Ii) Strengthen our organisation at branch level through the development of branch recruitment strategies
iii) Increase regional office support to branches and reps by ensuring that each region has a fully functioning team and that FE and HE support within a region enjoy parity of resources and workload
iv) Provide increased training for UCU reps and officers on the organising agenda
v) Ensure that pay, equality, environmental and health & safety issues are placed at the centre of the organising agenda Make provision for adequate facilities time for union reps a UCU priority
