Sector Conference notes:
The collapse of private training provider Carter & Carter.
That this collapse demonstrates the risks to education & training caused by the placing of provision with private companies.
That the collapse of Carter & Carter vindicates the ongoing campaigns by UCU and other to resist the privatisation of Further Education.
Sector Conference resolves:
To call on the Learning & Skills Council to guarantee full funding and support for all programmes run through Carter & Carter.
To further demand that, in the light of the collapse of Carter & Carter, the government abandons its reckless policy of contracting out whole sections of FE provision to private providers who have once again been shown to be ineffective, costly and prone to failure.
