Sector Conference is concerned at the tendency of some college managements to block any emails containing the words 'lesbian' or 'gay'. This has led to communications from Head Office and between members of the LGBT group failing to reach their intended destinations.
While we do not wish to subject members to offensive content, we feel that indiscriminate blocking of LGBT-related material constitutes an infringement of the rights of all members and in particular discriminates against LGBT members. We call upon the NEC to conduct a vigorous campaign both in colleges and the AOC to ensure that this practice ceases.
