- Motion text
Alarmed at the increasing number of cases in which disciplinary investigations are unfairly managed by University Officers in ways that defeat principles of natural justice and deprive staff members of the opportunity to challenge and protect themselves from allegations,
Urges the National Executive to seek to ensure that H. E. institutions' disciplinary procedures and the way they are carried out are in line with employment law and regulations, providing investigative processes that allow for the full participation of the staff member concerned in order that they may defend themselves;
And to take steps to resist absolutely any changes in University Statutes and disciplinary procedures that may allow for the principle of defence to be undermined or which allow the Officers concerned to avoid accountability for their conduct.
