Conference notes that:
i) NATFHE and AUT have previously expressed concerns over the use of TRAC data;
ii) TRAC(T) is being used by HEFCE, through a private consultancy firm, not as a means of accountability but to bench-mark institutions costs;
iii) This bench-marking process will lead to increased competition for funding and a continued reduction in unit resources for teaching;
iv) TRAC(T) continues the extension of managerial and neo-liberal policies into the HE sector;
UCU conference calls upon the leadership of our union:
i) To resist the increased competition for funding that will follow the extension of TRAC to teaching;
ii) To inform the funding councils of UCU's opposition to the extension of TRAC to teaching and formulate a plan of action to highlight the issues;
iii) To organise a nationwide series of meetings on a similar basis to the 'Challenging the Market in Education' conference
