The discussion around restructuring UCU
NEC endorsement for a structure that integrates equality work into both sectors of the union
Congress believes that:
Equality work should lie at the centre of UCU's work and should inform all bargaining, campaigning and organising activities
Equality work will underpin effective recruitment and organising
Congress therefore calls for:
The maintenance of a strong, effective Equality Unit within the structure of the union
The maintenance of groups within UCU organised by the relevant members with effective structures to support them, including conferences and committees with policy-making roles.
Continued emphasis on equality work in UCU publicity and training for representatives
