Motion text

Concerned that staff travelling overseas on business are inadequately insured and have an excessive workload with little or no time off to recuperate on their return,
Calls on employers to review urgently
– the insurance provided to ensure sufficient and appropriate cover;
– the workload of overseas assignments including weekends in order to reduce this;
– the return to work process when back in this country
– taxation of expenses (e. g. internet access) which are essential for staff to perform their duties while overseas
Calls on the National Executive to draw up a code of best practice for such staff and negotiate this as a nationally binding agreement, and to support staff members who refuse to travel or to incur expenditure in performance of their duties which is subject to deduction of income tax or national insurance or who return early on grounds of care and safety, ethical grounds or inequity of treatment.
