Conference endorses the HE pay claim for 2009 as set out in UCUHE11, subject to its agreement of the figure to be inserted at paragraph 1.2 and in the summary at 1 (a) and to the replacement of the title of section 4 with 'Pay Gaps'.

£500bn bank bail-outs and continuing war expenditure
Inflation and tax changes particularly hit those on pay limits and erode the HE gains of the 2006 settlement

Salaries and conditions did not cause the recession.
Conference instructs the HEC to use UC magazine, website and branch meetings in every institution with visiting speakers to debate the recession as part of mobilisation over pay.
